The coat of arms as blazoned in full color upon a white oval enclosed within a dark blue collar edged on the outside with gold rope and bearing the name USS WHIDBEY ISLAND at top and LSD 41 in base all in gold.
SHIELD
The dark blue color and the white wavy bar refer to the sea, with the angular green area symbolizing the evergreen terrain of Whidbey Island. The color gold is symbolic of excellence; the ships wheel refers to navigation, the green Maltese Cross refers to the humanitarian and medical mission of the first ship to carry the Whidbey name, and the gold crown on a red disc at the center of the wheel alludes to the British expedition which explored the Pacific Northwest waters. The island in these waters is named for Lieutenant Joseph Whidbey who was a member of that English expedition in the 1790s.
CREST
The trident symbolizes sea power, and the color red stands for courage. The wings represent the helo mission of the command, and the color gold is symbolic of excellence. The territory of Whidbey Island is represented by a wreath of Western hemlock, the state tree of Washington.

The crossed Navy and Marine Corps officers swords refer to the ships mission to support the U.S. Marine Corps in amphibious operations.
